What does a SaaS product design agency do?

A SaaS product design agency designs the software itself, not the marketing site: the workflows, dashboards, tables, settings and mobile screens people work in every day, plus the design system that keeps them consistent. DIXI does this for B2B SaaS, fintech and data platforms, from a single complex feature to a native app built from zero, designed with your engineers and ready to build.

Services

What SaaS product design services does DIXI offer?

Six services, usually combined: feature and workflow design for complex B2B products; data-heavy dashboards and tables; design systems in Figma and code; native iOS, Android and web apps; redesigns that start with an audit of real user paths; and front-end build or a complete handoff to your engineers. The founder leads every engagement.

Which SaaS products has DIXI designed, and what changed?

Three long product engagements carry most of the proof. ComboCurve: 3.5 years inside an oil and gas SaaS product team. Koyfin: a native mobile app from zero and 8 core web features for a fintech platform with 500K+ users. HCM International: a reporting platform rebuilt in 5–6 months, after which 22% more users reached a finished report.

Approach

How do you design UX for complex, data-heavy B2B software?

Start from the workflow, not the screen. We learn how experts actually work, in their units and terms, then design for scale and trust: bulk actions before single records, the assumption next to every number, density with clear hierarchy, and every empty, loading and error state drawn before build.

Bulk first, then the single record

Experts act on hundreds of records at once and open one only when something looks wrong. Selection, filters and bulk actions come first.

The assumption sits next to the number

A forecast or a report is only as good as its inputs, so the inputs stay one click away from every result.

Speak the user’s language

bbl/d and P90 for engineers, say-on-pay and peer groups for compensation consultants. The interface uses their terms and units.

Density with hierarchy

Aligned columns, tabular numbers and colour only where it signals something, so a screen holds more without feeling louder.

Answer first, details on demand

Every chart has a table behind it, and every summary opens into the records that produced it.

Design with real-scale data

Long names, missing values, mixed units and thousands of rows, drawn before build, not found in production.

How we work

Can a design agency work inside our product team?

Yes, and our longest projects worked that way. DIXI spent 3.5 years inside ComboCurve’s product team and two years inside Koyfin’s, joining their rituals and tools, briefing features with founders and engineers, reviewing designs with developers before the build and checking shipped work after release. You get a senior team that knows your product, not a new vendor every quarter.

  1. 01

    A 25-minute call

With Ignat, on your product, your users and where they get stuck.

  2. 02

An audit of real user paths

Where users drop off and why, turned into a written plan of what to fix first.

  3. 03

    Design in short cycles

Weekly reviews, real-scale data and your developers in the room from the start.

  4. 04

    Build or handoff, then measure

One metric agreed before kickoff, such as task completion, tracked after release.

Calls are scheduled to fit US and European hours. Koyfin 2020–2022 · ComboCurve, 3.5 years · HCM International, 5–6 months.

Design systems

What should a design system for a data-heavy SaaS product include?

More than colours and type. A data-heavy product needs shared units and number formats, one table component with every state, a chart grammar, one selection model, density rules, and tokens that both web and native apps read. DIXI built systems like this for ComboCurve, Koyfin and HCM, so new features start from decisions instead of a blank file.

ElementShared or per platformWhy it matters
Units and number formatsSharedThe same number reads the same way on every screen
Colour and signalSharedColour marks meaning, not decoration

Mobile

Do you design native mobile apps as well as web apps?

Yes. For Koyfin we designed the iOS and Android app from the first screen and released it on the App Store and Google Play, alongside eight core web features. Mobile was built around the jobs investors do away from their desk, not shrunken web screens, on shared tokens with native navigation, search and tables for each platform.

Build or handoff

Do you build the product, or hand off to our engineers?

Both work. When your engineers build, the handoff is the product: Figma components, specs, every state and edge case, reviewed with developers during the build and checked after release, as with HCM’s in-house team. When you need a build partner, DIXI designs and develops in one team, as on EW, a workflow SaaS that reached $50K MRR in 6 months.

What your engineers get

  • Figma components and design tokens
  • Every state: default, empty, loading, error, partial data, no permission
  • Edge cases: long names, missing values, mixed units
  • Specs and interaction notes
  • Reviews during the build and checks after release

Should we hire an in-house product designer, a freelancer or an agency?

It depends on scope and continuity. One senior in-house designer suits a steady single-product roadmap but takes months to hire. A freelancer suits a contained, well-defined task. An agency or design partner suits complex products that need several skills at once, such as research, UI, design systems, mobile and front-end, and a team that can start within weeks.

Formats

Which way of working fits your product?

A scoped product project suits a new product, a redesign of core flows or a design system. A design partnership suits teams shipping every release. Both can include development; complex platforms usually run as a partnership.

SaaS product design questions

Still unsure? Book a discovery call

How much does SaaS product design cost?

With DIXI, a scoped product project starts at $12k and takes 6–10 weeks, and a design partnership starts at $6k a month for at least 3 months, with development available in both. Our pricing page compares this with published agency, subscription and freelance rates.

How long does SaaS product design take?

A scoped product project takes 6–10 weeks from kickoff. Larger redesigns take longer: HCM’s reporting platform, internal app and design system took 5–6 months with two senior designers. Ongoing feature work runs as a partnership of at least 3 months; ComboCurve’s lasted 3.5 years.

Can you work with our existing design system and engineers?

Yes. Most of our product work happened inside live products and existing teams. At ComboCurve we designed features release after release and grew the design system every module shares; at HCM we handed specs, states and components to the in-house developers and reviewed the build with them. We join your tools and rituals rather than asking you to adopt ours.

Do you redesign existing SaaS products, or only design new ones?

Both. HCM was a redesign: we audited real user paths, removed redundant data-entry loops and rebuilt the platform, cutting the path from client data to a committee report from 8 steps to 4. Koyfin’s mobile app and EW’s platform were built from zero. Most redesigns start with an audit of the flows where users drop off.

Do you design dashboards and data-heavy tables?

Yes, it is most of our product work. Koyfin’s screens hold thousands of securities in sortable tables; ComboCurve’s tables handle wells, scenarios and schedules at scale; HCM’s reports put a table behind every chart. We design with real-scale data, including long names, missing values and mixed units.

Do we need a designer who already knows our industry?

You need one who learns it fast and speaks your users’ language. We learn the domain with your experts, from decline curves and P90 cases at ComboCurve to say-on-pay reports at HCM, and design with real data so edge cases show up in reviews, not in production. Our product work spans energy, fintech, compensation advisory and workflow SaaS.

Who owns the designs, and do you sign NDAs?

You own everything we design and build, from Figma files to code, handed over in full. We sign an NDA whenever you need one and are used to confidential products and data; our case studies show only what is public or cleared with the client. Our FAQ covers ownership and handover in more detail.
