Website migration servicesA faster site, the rankings you have.

We move SaaS and startup websites from Framer, Webflow or WordPress to Astro: every old URL kept or redirected, titles and structured data carried over, and Search Console watched after launch. We moved our own site in October 2026, and mobile PageSpeed went from 62 to 96. From $6k, in 3–5 weeks.

What is a website migration, and what moves with it?

A website migration moves your pages, content and search signals to a new platform without losing the traffic they bring. We rebuild the templates in Astro, move the content and media, keep every URL that has traffic or links or redirect it with a 301, carry over titles, descriptions and structured data, and switch only when the new site passes the same checks. You end up with a faster site, in code you own, hosted for little or nothing.

Our own move

What happened when we moved dixi.agency from Framer to Astro?

We rebuilt dixi.agency in Astro and switched it over on 29 October 2026. On the same PageSpeed test, mobile performance went from 62 to 96, and the largest element on the first screen now loads in 1.3 seconds instead of 5.7. To be fair to Framer, much of the gain came from a performance budget: lighter images, no video playing on load, and tracking that waits for cookie consent. Astro made that budget easy to keep.

Worth it?

When is moving to Astro worth it, and when should you stay?

Move when the platform costs you speed, money or control every month. Stay when your marketing team edits the site daily in a visual editor and the numbers are fine. Speed alone rarely decides it: in HTTP Archive’s September 2026 data, Webflow (71.3%), Astro (71.1%) and Framer (70.8%) sites pass Core Web Vitals on mobile at almost the same rate.

  1. Speed

    Mobile scores stuck under 70

Embeds, tracking and heavy pages keep mobile PageSpeed down however much you tune the builder.

Instead: Astro ships almost no JavaScript unless a page needs it, so a performance budget is easy to keep.

  2. Cost

Seats and add-ons grow faster than the site

A full Webflow seat is $39 a month and a limited one $15, billed yearly, on top of the site plan.

Instead: Astro is free, and static pages on Cloudflare’s free plan cost nothing to serve.

  3. Control

Changes wait for a builder feature

Custom data, AI features or a design system the builder can’t express end up as embeds and workarounds.

Instead: Plain code that your engineers and AI coding tools can change.

  4. CMS

    The CMS hits its ceiling

Item limits, reference fields and per-locale pricing shape the content model instead of your content.

Instead: A headless CMS or Markdown in your repository, sized to the content you have.

Stay on your builder if marketing ships pages every week without a developer and the site already passes Core Web Vitals: a move would swap an editor they like for one they have to learn. Core Web Vitals pass rates from the HTTP Archive Tech Report, September 2026; Webflow seats from webflow.com/pricing. Checked 6 November 2026.

What moves

What can you take out of Framer, Webflow and WordPress?

Content moves; pages are rebuilt. All three platforms let you export the content, but none hands you a codebase your team would want to keep editing: Webflow’s code export leaves out the CMS, and Framer’s downloadable files are generated output, as heavy as the live site. So we export the content and media, rebuild the templates as Astro components and import the content into them.

Process

How do we move a site without losing rankings?

In six steps, and nothing is switched off until the new site passes the same checks as the old one. Google’s guidance for site moves is the backbone: server-side permanent redirects (301 or 308) from each old URL, kept for at least a year, and the new sitemap submitted in Search Console (Google Search Central, site moves with URL changes).

  1. 01

    Inventory

Crawl the site and pull the top pages, queries and linked URLs from Search Console and analytics.

You get: a list of every URL that matters
  2. 02

    URL map

Each old URL keeps its address, gets one 301 to its closest match, or is retired with a reason.

You get: a URL map you sign off
  3. 03

    Rebuild

Templates as Astro components on your design, with a performance budget per page type.

You get: a staging site to click through
  4. 04

    Move the content

Content, media, titles, descriptions and structured data imported and checked page by page.

You get: every page on staging, next to the old one
  5. 05

    Pre-launch checks

Redirects tested, canonicals and sitemap rebuilt, forms and analytics firing, PageSpeed on key pages.

    You get: a signed checklist
  6. 06

    Switch and watch

Domain switched, sitemap submitted, IndexNow pinged, Search Console and analytics watched after launch.

You get: a report on crawl errors, indexing and clicks
  • Old site stays upNothing is switched off until the new site is verified.
  • Every URL accounted forKept, redirected once, or retired with a reason; no redirect chains.
  • Same or better metadataTitles, descriptions and schema carried over, or improved on purpose and noted.
  • In your nameRepository, hosting and domain belong to you from day one.
After the move

Who edits the site once it runs on Astro?

Your team, in an editor that fits how often you publish. For teams that ship pages every week we connect a headless CMS such as Sanity or Storyblok; for a site that changes monthly, content can live as Markdown in your repository with a simple editor on top. Either way, layouts stay in code, so nobody breaks the design by accident.

What does a migration cost, and what does the site cost to run?

A migration of your current design starts at $6k and takes 3–5 weeks; a migration with a redesign is a website project from $12k, in 6–10 weeks. After the move, hosting a static site on Cloudflare is free for most marketing sites, and support from $1k a month keeps it fast and up to date.

Fit

When are we the wrong team for your migration?

When the job is a copy-and-paste move at the lowest hourly rate, or a site that is really an application. We are a senior team of seven that designs, builds and moves marketing sites for SaaS, AI and fintech teams, and we treat a migration as a chance to make the site faster and clearer, not only to change hosts.

A good fit

  • SaaS, AI and fintech marketing sites, from 10 to a few hundred pages
  • Framer, Webflow or WordPress sites that are slow on mobile or costly to run
  • Teams that want code they own and AI coding tools can change
  • A redesign that should land on a new platform in one move
  • Blogs and resource hubs whose rankings must survive

The wrong team

  • Online stores with a cart and checkout (we design and build those on Shopify)
  • Membership sites with logins, paywalls or courses
  • Newsrooms publishing dozens of articles a day
  • The cheapest hourly rate for a fixed list of pages

Still unsure? Book a discovery call

Will we lose Google rankings when we migrate?

Rankings can move for a few weeks while Google recrawls, but they should not drop if every URL with traffic or links keeps its address or gets one 301, titles and structured data are carried over, and the new sitemap is submitted. Google recommends keeping redirects for at least a year; we recommend never removing them.

How long does a website migration take?

Most moves take 3–5 weeks: about a week for the inventory and URL map, two to three for the rebuild and the content, and a week of checks before the switch. Sites with large CMS collections or several languages take longer; a migration with a redesign takes 6–10 weeks.

How much does it cost to move a site to Astro?

From $6k for your current design rebuilt in Astro with content, URLs and SEO moved, and from $12k with a redesign. A static Astro site on Cloudflare’s free plan costs nothing to host; paid plans start at $5 a month. For a range on your own scope, try the cost calculator.

Can our marketing team still edit the site?

Yes. We connect a headless CMS such as Sanity or Storyblok, or a Git-based editor such as Keystatic, so marketers change text, images, posts and case studies without a developer. Layouts stay in code, which keeps the design and page speed intact.

Should we redesign at the same time?

If the design is recent and converts, move it as it is and redesign later. If a redesign was planned within a year, do both in one launch: URLs are mapped, templates rebuilt and everything tested once, and Google sees one change instead of two.

Do you move blogs and CMS content?

Yes: posts, case studies, authors, categories and their images, each item keeping its URL or getting a redirect. Content comes from Framer’s CMS export plugins, Webflow’s CSV export or the WordPress export file, and is checked item by item on staging.

What happens to forms, analytics and integrations?

Each one is listed in the inventory and rebuilt or reconnected before launch: forms post to your CRM or a small serverless endpoint, analytics and tag managers fire on every template, and booking, chat and payment embeds are tested on staging.

Where will the site be hosted?

On your own Cloudflare, Vercel or Netlify account. For static Astro sites we recommend Cloudflare: static assets are free there and the free plan includes 100,000 Worker requests a day. Domain, DNS and hosting stay in your name.

Can you migrate us to Webflow instead of Astro?

Yes, when your team wants Webflow’s visual editor. The URL map, metadata and checks are the same; only the build changes. Both paths are on the web development page.

What if something breaks after launch?

We watch Search Console and analytics after the switch and fix crawl errors, broken links or missing redirects the same week. The old site stays available until the new one is verified, so a rollback is a DNS change, not a rebuild.
